Floorcovering Occupations NVQ
Level 3 NVQ - (Gold CSCS Card)
NOTE: The Level 2 Floorcovering NVQ has been replaced and upgraded to Level 3.
The Floorcovering Occupations NVQ is designed for experienced floor layers who want to formally recognise their skills and competence.
There are two pathways available:
- Resilient / Textile Flooring
- Timber Flooring
This comprehensive NVQ covers the complete installation process, including assessing and preparing the work area, setting out, surface preparation and laying the final floor covering.
You will demonstrate your practical skills through workplace assessment, proving you can carry out floor covering work safely and to a high standard. You will also demonstrate the knowledge and understanding required to confirm your overall competence.
Process
Unlike many other providers we don’t have mandatory written work, as we often cover this through discussion and verbal questioning.
There is no e-portfolio for candidates to manage, as the assessor oversees the portfolio building.
Your assessor will visit you in your workplace, to collect evidence relating to the qualification being undertaken. Using methods such as observation (watching) and discussion, the assessor will work with you to gather what’s required for your portfolio – these methods of assessment are often recorded electronically. A third-party reference (witness testimony) can be used as another source of evidence, to help confirm your levels of competence and areas of responsibility.
Duration
The timescale between registration and completion varies for different candidates – candidate experience and willingness are key factors here. However, 2-4 months is an achievable duration for competent installers.
Cost
The standard cost of this Level 3 NVQ is £1350 plus VAT at the prevailing rate. Grant money can be claimed back at completion by companies registered with CITB.
