External Wall Insulation NVQ (EWI)
Level 3 NVQ - (Gold CSCS Card)
In line with PAS2035/2030:2019 regulations, installers can complete this NVQ as proof of occupational competence within their areas of expertise.
The External Wall Insulation NVQs are pathways within the Insulation and Building Treatments Level 3 specification.
Candidates who can competently manage the preparation works, then install insulation/board systems, followed by an approved render system, can be registered and work towards Pathway 7.
Individuals who install insulation/board and preparation operations or apply the render systems, can be registered onto pathway 5 or 6.
All pathway leads to the Level 3 NVQ award.
Pathway 5 – External Wall Insulation – Boarder
Pathway 6 – External Wall Insulation – Finisher
Pathway 7 – External Wall Insulation – Boarder and Finisher
You will need to demonstrate practical skills in relevant areas of your EWI NVQ pathway, to prove you have the ability to carry out your work safely and to a good standard. You will also need to show understanding and awareness to prove you have a good level of work-related knowledge and competence
How Your NVQ Is Assessed
Unlike many other providers, we don’t require you to complete lots of written work. Where appropriate, your assessor can gather evidence through discussion and verbal questioning, making the process much more straightforward.
You also don’t have to manage an online e-portfolio yourself. Your assessor takes responsibility for building and managing your portfolio of evidence.
Your assessor will visit you in your workplace to assess your skills and gather evidence for your NVQ. This may include observing you carrying out your normal work and discussing your knowledge, skills and responsibilities with you. Discussions and assessments may be recorded electronically as part of the assessment process.
Where appropriate, witness testimonies from a manager, supervisor or other suitable person can also be used to confirm your competence and the responsibilities you carry out at work.
How Long Does the NVQ Take?
The timescale between registration and completion varies for different candidates – candidate experience and willingness are key factors here. However, 2-4 months is an achievable duration for competent EWI installers.
Cost
The standard cost of this Level 3 NVQ is £1125 plus VAT at the prevailing rate. Companies registered with CITB may be able to claim eligible grant funding on completion of the qualification.
