CSCS Cards
Industry Accreditation CSCS Withdrawal (Grandfather Rights)
To get any CSCS card, you must have completed a CSCS Health, Safety and Environmental (HS&E) touchscreen test, at the appropriate level (CITB HSE Test).
If you have completed the HS&E test, and have registered for your NVQ, you will be able to obtain a Red Experienced Worker or Trainee Card. Upon completion of your NVQ, you can upgrade to your skilled CSCS Card.
Due to a change to the CSCS scheme on 2nd September 2019, if an NVQ is completed, which leads to a different colour CSCS Card, then a new CSCS test will be required at the appropriate level. Until now, an exemption meant that you could upgrade to the new card, within 2 years of completing your NVQ – this exemption has now been withdrawn.
There are three types of HS&E test:
* Operatives
* Specialists (including supervisory sub-categories)
* Managers and Professionals (MAP)
The best way to order your CSCS Card is via their website www.cscs.uk.com
HS&E Tests are booked through CITB
CSCS Cards should cost £36 and the separate CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test should cost £22.50
The NVQ does not expire, just the CSCS HS&E test – this must be taken every 5 years.
You only require the 1 day Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment if you are intending to order a Basic Skills Green Card – it is not required if you are pursuing an NVQ at Level 2 or above.
Not all occupations are covered by CSCS, they are however covered by a CSCS partner card scheme: for further details visit https://www.cscs.uk.com/about/partnercard-schemes
