Industry Accreditation CSCS Withdrawal (Grandfather Rights)

Company Statement

The Construction Leadership Council (CLC) have made the decision to withdraw all Industry Accreditation (Grandfather Rights) CSCS Cards, with all existing cards expiring on 31.12.2024.
– the UK’s Construction Industry has split opinions as to whether this is the correct thing to do, and whether it is a fair move.

What does this mean? In brief, if you were awarded a CSCS card under Industry Accreditation (as stated on the back of your card), you will need to undertake a relevant construction NVQ to retain the same card.

CSCS and CITB have been overseeing this process, with guidance from Now Get Qualified and other leading, governing organisations, such as Build UK and the CIOB. The task group has discussed how to implement the changes and ensure industry is aware of processes and ways to obtain financial support through the CITB Grant Scheme.
– CITB have enhanced a number of Achievement Grants, which are available to companies Registered with CITB, or working as sub-contractors within a registered company’s supply chain.

Now Get Qualified offer a bespoke process of NVQ delivery. We recognise that people who have many years working as managers, supervisors or trades, should not need to go through a potential long-winded process to obtain a CSCS Card (especially if they’ve held a card on Grandfather Rights for many years).

Our process for delivering qualifications to those coming off of IA Card (or with many years’ experience), begins with a profiling call/meeting. This ascertains any prior achievements a candidate may have that might simplify the process, and ensures enquirers are signposted, and ultimately enrolled, onto the correct qualification.
We promote the method of Recorded Professional Discussion (RPD) over written work, which removes the need for writing up modules – this process enables experienced candidates to elaborate on their experiences and provide examples of situations and how they managed them; thus becoming a superior piece of evidence that can cover a significant proportion of the NVQ being undertaken – written Q&A still remains an option.

Candidates all have a dedicated assessor to work with, who will manage your portfolio building – we do not give you an e-portfolio to manage.

If a candidate is clearly experienced, competent, knowledgeable, and willing, we can complete the qualification in a timely manner (there are no set durations with our qualifications).

As stated above, CITB Achievement Grants have been enhanced for a number of key supervision and management NVQs – these are now at a rate of £1250 and £1500 respectively – for further details: CITB Grants

Now Get Qualified can advise on how to claim grants, and often oversee grant management for NVQs achieved with ourselves.
